A Plaything For Game..

Sony PSP price cut might be coming

Anyone who has a child that wants a Sony PlayStation Portable for Christmas will more than likely receive a gift from Sony Claus. Experts and financial analysts believe that the success of the Nintendo DSLite will inevitably cause Sony to reduce the average retail price of the PSP from $199.00 to $149.00. While the PSP has sold 20 million units since its release, the DS has sold 21 million units. The DS has had major hit games such as “Nintendogs”, “New Super Mario Brothers” (a definite Nintendo staple), and “Brain Age” (4 million copies worldwide). PSP has not come out with a big-hit game since “Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories”, but hopes to have another with another installment of the “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories”. The DS Lite retails for about $129, but does not come with the movie-playing/video transfer options of the PSP. The possible reduced price could also be a result of the release of the PlayStation 3, coming this winter.

ASUS G2 & G1 Gaming Notebook Series

Those who are into World of Warcraft (WOW) and other Massively Mulitplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG) have finally had their prayers answered. Asus has released the G1 and G2, two laptop computers specifically designed with PC gamers in mind.
The difference between the G1 and G2 is only a matter of color and screen size. The G1 has a 15.4 inch screen with green Direct Flash lights on the side, while the G2 has red and a 17-inch screen. Both of them have a metallic, in mold decoration that prevents chipping. For gamers on the go, that is very important!
Internally, the G1 and G2 are very much alike as well. The only difference is that the G1 has WXGA/WSXGA color Shine LCD options and a 512 MB NVIDIA GeForce Go7700 graphics set, and the G2 has a WXGA display and a 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 card. Beyond that, they are pretty much the same inside and outside. You can choose from a vast array of Intel Core 2 Duo processors, up to 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, and up to 160 GB SATA hard drive.
These computers are ready to go wireless with 802.11a/b/g, as well as Bluetooth compatibility for linking with other wireless devices. Other features include Wireless Video Communication, which is a high resolution webcam and speaker built in the system itself that allow hands-free, wire-free communication and conferencing from one gamer to the other.
Another spectacular feature is the Interruption-free Live Information Update, which is an OLED side window that gives instant messages, system status, reminder alerts, and customized personal data that will assist the gamer with functions without taking away from the game.
Other features include a Light Scribe dual-layer DVD burner as well as a built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam. It also comes with a plethora of ports including video output, an Express Card slot, flash card reader, and many USBs.
Believe it or not, the Asus G1 and G2 are available as sets, each one includes a backpack and mouse combination. Well, there is no word when these will hit the market, nor the price, but it sounds like this is a gamers’ “must have”.

Nintendo DS MP MP3 Player 3 Player

That’s right, the Nintendo DS will soon be able to play music. How is this possible? A special cartridge that can accept SD memory cards, and from there it will locate and play MP3 files. The player will come with a 512MB SD card, but users can use ones of larger capacity. Unfortunately, video files are completely incompatible. Too bad, so sad.
This function will also be available for the Game Boy Advanced and the Game Boy Micro, and looks like it will lead to a complete repackaging of the DS as we know it.

Sony PSP 2 Coming in March?

Sony fans who are desperately awaiting the arrival of the PlayStation 3 may have to wait a long time for the PSP 2. PlayStation Magazine said that certain unnamed sources reported that the next generation of PSP will be available in Japan around March 2007. The next generation of PSP will not be named PSP 2, and will be a simple upgrade more than anything else.
For example, the UMD drive will be turned to a slot-loader. The built-in memory will be raised from 32MB to 8GB, and some have speculated that this increased memory may be part of a bigger plot for users to fill the PSP 2 with pay-per-downloads of some type. The PSP upgrade should be slimmer, and a new feature will be an Eye-Toy type camera.
The price is expected to stay the same at about $250 USD.
